Improving McPherson’s street infrastructure in an ongoing process. Project Updates 2020 provides timely information about specific projects. The intent is to keep residents informed about current projects, street closings, detours, and progress. Project details and timelines can change depending on whether or project conditions. Hartup Street from Avenue A to Kansas Avenue; Elizabeth Street from Hartup Street to South Park Street; Hartup Street from Kansas Avenue to East Marlin Street. Project includes sanitary sewer extensions from Hartup Street from Hancock Street to Elizabeth Street and Grand Avenue from Elizabeth Street to Hancock Street. The projects are being constructed simultaneously.

The asphalt roadway between Arby’s and Orscheln Farm & Home will be addressed. This is the access road to Mattress Hub, Applebee’s, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Days Inn and Holiday Inn Express.
The contractor cleaned wide sawed pavement joints. A contractor working on the final section of
Retaining Wall. Crews performing cleanup and backfilling. Joint sealing of street pavement was delayed due to weather.
Street extension north of Burger King’s north entrance north for 327 feet in front of the new Best Western property.
No work performed on the street project this week.

Drainage issues and street reconstruction will be addressed along Grimes Street. Improvements include new curb and gutter and a storm sewer pipe, which will carry water down Anna Street to be dumped into the ditch near McPherson High School.

The intersection of Grimes St and Hulse St closed
Ditch improvements from Main Street near Tractor Supply to 1st Street adjacent to McPherson High School. Seven box culverts will be replaced and retaining walls and ditch lining will be installed in critical areas along the channel.
Seeding was completed at the North-East corner of the Hulse and North High intersection and in some areas along the drainage ditch between Main Street and Grimes.
Hulse Street is closed to thru traffic while crews complete work on the sanitary sewer.
We will widen the existing roadway to 32’ back of curb to back of curb, install street drainage and mill and overlay the street. The project was awarded to Conspec Inc. dba Kansas Paving, Wichita Contract amount $558,324.50 of that, $220,000 was funded with a CDBG grant.
