2019 PROJECT UPDATES: Week of June 24 to June 30
Public Works Department | City of McPherson

Improving McPherson’s street infrastructure in an ongoing process. Project Updates 2019 provides timely information about specific projects. The intent is to keep residents informed about current projects, street closings, detours and progress. Project details and timelines can change depending on weather or project conditions. SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROJECT
1. Project Description or Location – Sidewalks and other improvements in the Roosevelt Elementary School neighborhood.
2. Street Closures & Detours – None
3. Last Week’s Construction Progress – Work began last week on construction of new sidewalks along the west side of Gildersleeve Street. Sidewalk has been placed between Avenue A and Grant Street as the work continues north to Lincoln Street then west along the north side of Lincoln Street. Sidewalk ramps and driveways have not been completed.
4. Projected Street Closures & Detours – To be determined.

HARTUP STREET/ELIZABETH STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT
1. Project Description or Location – Hartup Street from Avenue A to Marlin Street and Elizabeth Street from Hartup to Park Street. Project includes a community sewer along Hartup and Grand Avenue.
2. Street Closures & Detours – Hartup Street from the north side of East Hancock Street to the south side of Elizabeth Street is currently closed.
3. Last Week’s Construction Progress – Sanitary sewer pipe and storm sewer pipe and structures have been installed north of mid-block of Hartup Street between East Hancock and Elizabeth Street.
4. Projected Street Closures & Detours – Residents can expect the intersection of Hancock Street and Hartup Street to be closed on Wednesday, June 26 through Friday, June 28, for installation of sanitary sewer pipe.

GRIMES STREET/ANNA STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT
1. Project Description or Location – Drainage issues and street reconstruction will be addressed along Grimes Street. Improvements include new curb and gutter and a storm sewer pipe, which will carry water down Anna Street to be dumped into the ditch near McPherson High School.
2. Street Closures & Detours – Anna Street is closed to through traffic from North High Drive to Grimes Street. Motorists are advised to follow detour signs from North High Drive to Main Street. Grimes Street is closed to through traffic from 1st Street to Loomis Street.
3. Last Week’s Construction Progress – Sanitary sewer construction began on Monday, June 24 on Anna Street. Work is being completed at the west entrance of McPherson High School on North High Drive. Tree removal continues on Grimes Street from Allison Street to Hulse Street. The trees will be stockpiles on the street right of way, waiting until the dump site is dry enough to enter.
4. Projected Street Closures & Detours – To be determined.

EAGLE’S WINGS ESTATES UNIT TWO, PHASE I PROJECT
1. Project Description or Location – Sonora Drive from East Northview Road north through Disability Supports of the Great Plains.
2. Street Closures & Detours – Sonora Drive is closed between Northview Road and Wickersham Drive. The new road was placed last week but is not yet open to the public.
3. Last Week’s Construction Progress – Pavement has been placed on the north side of the Northview Road and Sonora Drive intersection. Curb and gutter and concrete pavement have been placed; pavement is in cure time.
4. Projected Street Closures & Detours – To be determined.

EAGLE’S WINGS ESTATES UNIT TWO, PHASE II PROJECT
1. Project Description or Location – Sonora Drive from Disability Supports to tie-in south of Wickersham Drive, Mackenzie Court and Kaiser Court.
2. Street Closures & Detours – Sonora Drive is closed between Northview Road and Wickersham Drive. The new road was placed last week but is not yet open to the public.
3. Last Week’s Construction Progress – Aggregate base and curb and gutter have been installed along Sonora Drive and Mackenzie Court. Sub-grade compaction has been completed at Kaiser Court. This week work will include final grading, geo-grid installation and aggregate base.
4. Projected Street Closures & Detours – To be determined.
