Everyone has a dream. Justina Neufeld will share her story "Becoming a Refugee in WWII" on Monday, March 25. The youngest of ten children, Neufeld lived through family hardships, upheaval and relocation during World War II. Part of her family fled from Ukraine ahead of the German army in 1943, landing in occupied Poland. She was sent to live with a brother in France for recuperation, and after the war her family fled to Holland to avoid repatriation to Russia. This is where she met an American woman who sponsored her immigration to the United States. And this is where her dream began to become a nurse like Florence Nightingale. Despite years of hardship and pain, Neufeld attended nursing school and created a life full of compassion and service. The free program begins at 3 p.m. at the Cedars Wellness Center.
